Comparing the prices of the new iMacs and the Mac mini is absurd. The killer

I don't think people are pumping it up at all. I personally think that people who can't drive a standard transmission, are just lazy (and that goes for my mother, and her habit of doing her makeup while driving). People only get autos, because they don't want to have to "inconvenience" themselves with pushing down on the clutch and throwing the car into the next gear; because doing so requires them to stop shoving food down their face, or to get of the damn phone. I also hate to hear people moan about how inconvenient a standard transmission is during stop and go traffic; I mean it's not that bad, and I recently took my standard transmission accord to chicago and drove in stop and go traffic for over two hours, and it was not as annoying as some would make it out to be. People are just too willing to sacrifice the fun of driving for convenience.

During my sales tour of duty I literally lived in the car for 14-16 hours a day and yes, I did take phone calls (via hands free) and ate/drank while driving. There wasn't much of a choice, only time you could eat and drink was between calls and if you rep onc products you have a lot of driving to do to get from call to call. And right now it's the same. Eating breakfast and dinner in the car saves me at least an hour each day for sleep and I don't get much as it is since I am booking 12-14 hour days on average.
Yeah, I can drive stick and if I can ever afford a fun car for driving on the weekend, I might get a manual again but for everyday commute I take an auto any day. For me driving is a chore right now, there is no fun to be had considering how much I drive each day.

I don't rip DVDs. I rip DVD Images created with Toast from EyeTV broadcast recordings. So it's not an extra step. If you mean why not export direct to mp4 from EyeTV the answer is because they look like C**p. You want a really good looking mp4 file, Handbrake is the only way to go IMHO. And the maximum quality Toast encode to DVD image is also the best way to provide Handbrake with a superior master to rip from.

I love Apple products but I am always entertained by the rabid zeal of the delusional Apple apologists who insist the company can do no wrong...OR...they simply ignore the common, and obvious, flaws in the Apple product they buy, trying to convince themselves that they have the only "good" one...which on some subconscious level they need to tell themselves so they can believe they are "special" somehow.
Last year during those frenzied few weeks of the iPhone4 'Antena-gate' there were literally hundreds of people like you saying that the iPhone was flawed, and that Apple were about to collapse.
The thing was, like you, the majority of posters didn't even have the product that they were moaning about, but were instead just regurgitating posts and working themselves into an unjustifiable rage.
So, until we hear from people that not only have experienced problems but also have not had Apple do something about it, then your comments will continue to be irritatingly meaningless.

Luckily I get .Mac for free, but $99 is very expensive when compared to using flcker, gmail, youtube, etc.

I would need a 2.4 TB iPod to store all of my Music.
Right now I'm using an 80 gig and choosing different playlists on my monthly sync.
I only use it for the car so I'm not too concerned with upgrading.
With my iPhone I use the app "ORB (http://www.orb.com/en/orblive)" and have full access to the home server anytime but that depends on DATA and is sometimes slow or in bad coverage areas.
I only need this for the car, so no big deal.
But if they stop making the classic I would be bummed out

I'm wondering if Apple would kill off the 17" if they did introduce a 23". I'm pretty sure now that the manufacturing cost difference between 17" and 20" is quite small.
