I am not saying that there are no young men with out the ability to make wise choices. Wise choices are the foundation to wisdom. What I am saying is that you wont know how wise they are until you look back at them years down the road (usually). So I know it is kindof a contridiction. But I'm saying that it might not seem like a mistake now, but you might view it as one later down the road.
Plus the wisdom of men ends where his hormones begins.

The iPhone 4 is now 10 months old, that's getting a bit long in the tooth in the ever evolving tech world. :)
Agreed + the fact that this model was not released with the original phone; so it was going to suffer.
The real comparison would be the white iPhone 4 + the black iPhone 4 after April to iPhone 3GS when the iPhone4 came out.

I know the reason, or the supposed reason (who knows, Apple has been as tight lipped as ever on the issue) . If true, its a disgrace it made it to the keynote presentation, without the issue being identified or a reasonable fix found. I don't care how you square it - being 10 months late for a device who has an average life of 12 months is utter incompetence and hence disgraceful.
Hats off for Apple sticking to it, but that does not take away from the fact that they should never have made the promise w/o a better understanding of production issues. The iPhone 4 design has been around since at least January per spy shots of the iPad before release. So, its not as if the design was so new that they could claim there was no time to identify the issue until after the June 2010 keynote by Steve Jobs.
This was the first iPhone, and quite possibly the first phone in general, whose enclosure is made almost entirely of glass, besides the buttons and metal band. This is an issue that likely never came up in the past because the white paint on glass thing never really mattered before. I find it entirely plausible that they thought it wouldn't bleed as badly as it seems to.

Reading through this thread, I was wondering how many people defending the iPad are actually aware of its inherent shortcomings for professional users , and have actually used programs like Photoshop .
The iPad was never meant to be used by professionals, it is not compatible with pro apps and devices on a basic level, like colour spaces, connectivity, file import/export, tethering, to name a few .
As it's been pointed out before, finger gestures are a crutch, not an enhancement, just like they were since the introduction of trackpads .
SJ called the iPad a post-PC computer - nothing could be further from the truth.
It might help to develop better input devices in the future, but right now Apple doesn't seem to be part of it, aiming their products at a retro oriented crowd which is merely asking for simplification, instead of progress.

Hello, I got a mac mini running 10.5.8. When I boot the computer the file sharing between mac and widows works, 10 minutes later the sharing stops working, and I need to restart the computer to get it working again
How can I solve this?

Well, this is macrumors and i try to stay away from economic theories, but you asked for it, so here we go:
Monopolies cause "allocative deadweight loss" (although its main argument applies towards state-owned enterprises)
What does that mean?
In a competitive market, producers dont have the freedom to set a price because the rival can always undercut them until the point where lowering the price will cause in a loss.
BUT the monopolist firm can decide the price it charges by varying the quantity it produces, so it will produce only up to the quantity where its profit is maximized. UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES, the level of output is lower than the socially optimal one, which is where the max price a consumer is willing to pay is the same as the minimum price that the producer requires in order not to lose money.
When the amount produced is LESS than the socially optimal quantity, it means not serving some consumers who are perfectly willing to pay MORE than the minimum price that the producer requires but who are unwilling to bear the price at which the monopoly firm can max its profit. The unfulfilled desire of those neglected consumers is the social cost of monopoly.
So basically, monopolies will start losing more money when they start raising the price since consumers will either 1) not be able to access such services (since they will only make the MIN amount for MAX price and by using calculus, you would rather spend a little more in the amount produced and make a little less profit rather than having an EXACT amount although you would make the best profit IF you sold ALL items) or 2) consumers will just stop using it since cell phone devices are not a NECESSITY but instead a WANT. do you think you will pay whatever cellphone company if the price exceeds a certain comfort zone in your income bracket? you wont.
Furthermore, I will take it one more step. Monopolies can be good. If you look at the Mexican carrier, Telcel. The year Telcel was monopolized by Carlos Slim (riches man in the world now) coverage in Mexico grew more than it did in the hands of the state. According to the "monopoly=bad" argument, service in Mexico should have dropped in every other city that is not important in Mexico's economy while service should have exploded in cities such as Mexico City and Puebla. Actually i just wrote him the email because i was killing some time at work and i was curious of what the response would be. They are all sold out anyway.... its not like steve can make you return them. I'm also pretty sure Apple knew about it long before i sent the email.

Hi.
After upgrading my computer and my software (from Tiger to Leopard) a strange thing happened: my Airport signal (which was the strongest before) is at the middle. But the strangest thing is that, when I open Network Preferences, my internet connection is showed as a PCI Ethernet slot 3, port 3 connection (although it shows an Airport icon); for Airport, it says it's connected but it has no IP address! I have a PCI Ethernet card, but it's not connected.
I also intalled a PCI USB 2.0 card, but I don't think it has anything to do with that.
Any ideas?

i initilized my drive and cleaned everything off including the os. when i startup, the lilttle mac folder comes up and blinks a question mark. when i put in my os 9 cd it attempts to boot. most of the time, it just doesn't work. others, it will start to load stuff, then just freezes. i am starting to think that my disk is flawed. what do you think? what should i do?

I can imagine that Apple provides detailed specs to the manufacturers of the glass and that there is a bidding process involved. That means that any deviation from the provided specs after production will have to be corrected at the cost and time of the manufacturer, not Apple.
If this is actually the case, than the manufacturer can even be held accountable for the loss in sales.
More likely it was Apple's fault for specifying either a nearly unachievable spec or for giving a bad material specification.

To clarify, I have .Mac and love the features, I just think for $100/yr, Apple is being a little chintzy with storage (after all, Google offers 2 GB for free and AOL offers unlimited space for free).
For $100 a year, they should boost the speed of iDisk by about oh, I don't know, 100x... still "too damn slow".... oh, and also drop the price to $50. If they wanna get more people in the door, they have to offer something free to start with, perhaps email should at least be free.

It's already been reported that Lion Server will improve file sharing with Windows 7 (and of course, the mail service will work with the right client app), but what about other services? Can a Windows client log in with a network account?

I went to a Red Cross blood donation event that we had in my last workplace, but after they asked all of my medical history they weren't sure if it would be a good idea to take my blood.
