I have an old iBook G4 and it tells me that no battery is installed even when there is a working battery in place, anyone have any clue to what is up?

I've been meaning to update my apple tv 2 and iPad to the latest jailbreaks. Come to find out i can't. Every time i go to hit shift + restore to open a restore file in iTunes it doesn't work any more. Did itunes disable this function in the latest itunes update. Im not sure what it could be. I am using a windows keyboard on a Mac but it worked all the other times i did it. i even tried to dfu my iPad and do a restore and had no luck. I went to my pc and it worked fine. The problem is i have to do the ipad on the mac because all my synced stuff is on that iTunes.

Well, first, I need to point out that that was the single most obvious brown-nosed "welcome" I've seen yet. A true work of art. ;) Yes, I'm sending them all cookies, but you won't see me posting that here. Er... whoops!
Second, welcome back - truly - I know you've been worked to the ragged edge of oblivion, and I hope things get better soon. Please let us know if your interview (I missed the original posts about it a few weeks ago) ends up in an offer. If not, I know one of the next ones will. It's easy to get caught up in wondering about why you're working 72-hour weeks now, but it is just a short phase to help you appreciate even more the much better job which I am certain you'll have very soon.

I would have no problem paying $50 for .Mac, but $99 is ridiculous.
They need at least 5 gigs of storage and domain name registration. I get 20 gigs of storage and 100gigs of bandwidth from my hosting company for 5 bucks a month. Surely Apple could do better.
Anyone remember that huge data center they bought last year? Hopefully at least part of it goes to .Mac use.
Then go buy .Mac on eBay. You'll probably pay less than $50.
Most of the cut-rate hosting companies I've dealt with are actually less reliable than .Mac has been for me over the years (uh, Dreamhost, anyone?).
Sync services make .Mac worth it for me. That, and I've been using my .Mac email address since the first days of iTools, and the IMAP mail functionality has always worked very well between my main desktop, my laptop, and viewing from the web despite the highly dated current interface which looks like it's finally getting a modern, AJAX-y makeover itself.
Presumably the other web interfaces into .Mac are getting an equally complete (and equally overdue) makeover, as Peace hinted at. If there's new services being added, all the better.
Naturally, more storage would be welcomed and ought to be expected, given the competition out there. WebDAV / Finder file transfer speeds really need to be fixed, but I just access my iDisk via an FTP program if I want to transfer any big files back and forth. It's also dead simple to use iDisk to transfer files to my less than tech-savvy friends.
And you still get a free VersionTracker Plus account for being a .Mac member, which saves you $25 right there. :)

These days not having any kind of native AVCHD support really slows you down (and uses up a lot of storage space) particularly considering the DSLR-hype since 2009!

DreamStream� is an application designed to help you fall asleep, whether for a nap, or for the night. Much like pricey noise machines you may have seen in high-end specialty stores, DreamStream plays soothing sounds for a set period of time, while you drift off to sleep. The Sleep option plays your sounds while you fall asleep for the night -- need 30 minutes? 3 hours? You decide. The Nap option plays you to sleep, then wakes you up to a different sound. getTunes : allows you to copy music from people sharing it through iTunes on your network
GCam: Really quick way to record something from any firewire camera
Dent Du Midi: adds MIDI options to GarageBand
MacJanitor: does basic maintenance on computer system
Just to to confirm what others have said about SideTrack, VLC, iPhoto Buddy-----I use these pretty much everyday and don't even realize how important they are anymore.

Anyhow, it's only a matter of time before Apple implements some sort of disc-labeling system. I'd just rather see something sooner rather than later.

First opening of Flipboard after the recent update to the app displays an iOS popup "Warning. Your iPad appears to be jailbroken. This may cause bugs, crashes or other unpredictable behavior."
I just thought that was interesting as I've never seen such a message before or even knew that an app could detect a jailbreak. What's to keep apple from detecting this with one of their apps and voiding my warranty?

I have a FlipHD, and it automatically syncs all my movies into iphoto. Does iphoto compress or alter (loss of quality) these videos by merely syncing them?

I purchased Tweetie 1.0 but got bored with it and went back to TweetDeck. Still loving that dark theme from TweetDeck so not sure about Tweetie 2.0. Although, the Offline stuff sounds great!
